THE Top Tip – Three of Clubs – Tandem Lifts

Home / The Heavy Lift Engineer Insights / THE Top Tip – Three of Clubs – Tandem Lifts

When one crane is not enough, then you can hire two, or sometimes even more in very specialised circumstances, to increase the lifting power available. There may be many reasons for using two cranes instead of one other than just weight; the load may need to be manoeuvred in a certain manner or supported in a way that hook height or specialist rigging cannot easily provide.

These lifts can be highly complex and require careful planning to ensure they are executed safely. Control of the lift, crane positioning, and boom clearance as the crane slew and operate in close proximity to each other, and the load in question, must be carefully assessed by a team of lift engineers who know what they are doing.
